A Very Very Bad Day

This has been one of the worst days of my life.  Jake ran out into the cul-de-sac this morning and was hit by a landscaping truck that was going entirely too fast.  Trying to comfort his cries, I reached down and he bit me.  Then, trying to pry my hand loose, I used my right hand - and he bit my finger.  The poor little guy was in pain and shock.  To make a long story short ~ Jake is in the hospital ~ he has multiple fractures of the pelvis, a bruised bladder, and some scrapes on his leg.  He is going to be ok.  I was a total mess emotionally.  I keep thanking God because it could have been so much worse.  We will be picking him up in the morning and will begin the vigil of keeping him from jumping or running for 2-3 months so the fractures can heal.
I spent the entire afternoon in Urgent Care getting a tetanus shot and minor surgery on all the bite wounds.  As you can see in the photo, I pretty much can do nothing right now.  Terry is being my Angel.  And that, my friends, was my Friday.

Oh my gosh Audrey, so sorry. Glad Jake is going to be okay, what a trauma for all of you. How scared you must have been. we have experienced the hurt dog bite thing here too. Those tiny teeth pack a wallop. Rest up over the weekend, you and the little guy. Sendng good wshes for a speedy recovery for all. When our Rust had knee surgery and couldn't get about for quite a while, he tok it like a trooper and just really rested in a crate. Hope little Jake does the same. xox

So sorry to hear this bad stuff happening to such a kind lady. I know how you treasure Jake. We had a dog that was hit by a car (not the drivers fault either) but he didn't make it. All of this is sad. Wishing you better days ahead.

OMG! I'm so glad that your little guy will recover! I can only too well imagine what you are going through. Poor Audrey and poor Jake and thank goodness for Terry's support! I feel so badly for you. Oh man, wish I could help. So sorry Audrey, I know Jake means the world to you. The two of you can recover together.
