Reopening

Today was the reopening of BUY THE SEASON where I have had a booth for 10 years.  As vendors, we were permitted to work our booths all day Thursday and most of Friday.  I spent many hours in there both days cleaning, purging, putting in new items, and being miserable with a mask covering my face for all those hours.
However ~ I just checked my sales today online and I am crazy happy - I sold 48 items!! The bulk of them were smallish items, but I am so pleased that my hard work paid off.

Saturday Evening

This evening.  Finding joy in the little things.

Clematis

I planted this Clematis a good 8 years ago.  It only ever grew maybe a foot high and never had a flower.
For some reason, the vine took off this year and it is flowering.  Love it.

Art

This "Houses" painting and journals by Elizabeth Tichvon arrived yesterday!  I LOVE the painting and the journals are perfect.  Elizabeth's packaging skills are wonderful.  The painting was well protected and arrived with no harm.  Now to find the perfect place to hang it.

And yet another deer.

This evening, we ran out to pick up subs for dinner.  Saw this sweet girl.  Jake even likes watching the deer.  We are seeing them almost every time we leave the house.

Bath Time

Somebody we all know and love rolled in something stinky outside, so he needed a bath.

Rain Storm

After beautiful sunshine most of the day, at 5:00 we had a big storm with heavy rain. Not needed!

Another Young Buck

This young buck was in the back yard this afternoon.  He has short little antlers.

May Evening Beauty

It has been a beautiful evening.

The Freedom Bird Project

I made and painted this bird today.  He is now packed up in his envelope ready to fly to Australia for The Freedom Bird Project where he will hang from a huge tree branch installation by artist Helen Platania.

WORLD TURTLE DAY

It is WORLD TURTLE DAY!!
World Turtle Day is observed on May 23rd every year as a way to help people celebrate and protect turtles and tortoises and their disappearing habitats around the world.

Turtles are threatened by plastic pollution.  It is estimated that over half of all sea turtles have ingested some form of plastic in their lifetime.  When plastic is in the water where sea turtles feed, they can easily mistake the trash for food.  Ingesting ocean plastic can cause internal blockages that lead to starvation or death.
The risk of plastic ingestion is especially high for sea turtle hatchlings that encounter microplastic pollution in the sargassum, or floating patches of algae, where they live and feed during their first weeks of life.
Sea turtles also have a significant risk of becoming entangled in ghost nets, buoy lines, and other plastic fishing gear, which can be life-threatening.

Young Buck

This young buck was the highlight of the afternoon!
There must be something really tasty under the guardrail.  We stopped the car right next to him and he didn't leave.

More Rain

About 5:30, it got dark, cloudy, and started to rain again.
 The river is HIGH!
A large lake where there is not supposed to be one.
Ugh! The sunshine was so uplifting.

Sunshine

Thank you, God, for the blue skies and sunshine this morning!!

A Fond Memory

This memory popped up on my Facebook page this morning.
A lifetime ago.  What wonderful times I had being involved in Canton Players Guild.

May 22, 2014  Throwback Thursday
My fifteen minutes of fame!!  I was active in the Canton Players Guild when I was young.  This is a scene from HANSEL AND GRETEL (1961),  I played the part of Gretel and Hansel was played by Jim Taggart.  I remember this being a very exciting time in my life.

Flooding

Day 3 of non-stop rain was perfect for making a big pot of pasta sauce.  After lunch, we took a little ride to check the river.
Many manhole covers have water spewing out, the river is raging, people have been evacuated from their homes in some areas, apartment buildings flooded, and many roads closed.  Water is everywhere.  Rain in the forecast through Friday.  It is awful.
On our return home, Jake had the right idea - hide in the warm covers on the couch.

Masks

Thank you Joe Stanley for the great "doxie" masks!!  If we have to wear a mask, we should make it fun!  Joe owns UPCYCLED GIFTS at Towers Mall and has been working hard day and night sewing masks.
