Beautiful Weekend Photos

My computer was out of business for a couple of days this past week.  I was not able to post a Throwback Thursday photo or anything else.  All is well now, though, so I am posting a few photos from this weekend.
 We saw several beautiful deer.
 A precious little rabbit.
We took Jake down to the Roanoke River.  He loved the walk TO the river, but wanted no part of getting IN the water.
We saw some sweet little shetland ponies.

My heart beats faster when I see big old trees.  These beauties were very large and covered with moss and lichen.  LOVE!

Beautiful sky last evening.  This is a view from my back yard.

Summer Solstice

The first day of summer gave us a pretty sunset, and then a rainbow, too!! I almost missed the rainbow.  Passing the window, I happened to look out.  It was spectacular! There was a pink/orange glow everywhere.

Daily Visit

I've been seeing this deer every day now for about a week, always in the same place ~ a little area off the side of the road close to home.  She is the first deer that does not seem afraid, allowing me to stop my car and take as many photos as I want.  She looks very thin and in need of food.  She must be finding something she likes in this spot and keeps coming back early in the evening.

Kind and Loving Friends

I am very blessed!  I have made some dear friends here in Virginia.  Not only are they fun to be with, but they are caring and giving people with big hearts and kind souls.  Last evening, my friend Ibby, who has already given me some lovely gifts, surprised me once again with this adorable print of a little dachshund.  She said it reminded her of Jake.  It is a work of art by Gretchen St. Lawrence of Floyd, Virginia.
I am delighted to have this print which now graces my fireplace mantel.  But, I treasure the gift of Ibby's friendship most of all.  Thank you, my friend.  You have put a burst of sunshine into my life.

Magnolia

Dear Heaven, I give thanks to thee
for things I did not know before,
For the wisdom of maturity,
For bread, and a roof, and for one thing more...
Thanks because I still can see
The bloom on the white magnolia tree!

Denali

"When someone you love walks through the door, even if it happens five times a day, you should go totally insane with joy!"
~ ~
How I LOVE this quote ~ it is from the "Denali" video that I watched about 5 minutes ago.  I truly cannot stop crying.  Jake is licking my tears.  Oh, how I love him.
~ ~
This is a touching film about a man (Ben) and his dog (Denali).  The narrative is told from Denali's perspective:

Throwback Thursday

December 7, 1968
Audrey, Lee, Tom, and Sharon at Kent State University, headed out for a night on the town.  Tom and Shar eventually married, are still together, and have a beautiful family.  When I think back to some of the memories from Kent, it almost feels like it happened just a few years ago.

Haze Covered Sun

Our sun this evening.
The haze was so thick that you could look directly at the sun.  Shortly after taking these photos, the sun turned red, but it was down behind the trees and I couldn't get a shot.  Jumped in my car and drove to try to find a view, but the clouds had covered it.

Etsy Craft Party

 Etsy Craft Party
Etsy's annual celebration of crafting and community took place around the world yesterday and today.  16 West Marketplace was the host for Roanoke's local party.  This year's theme was: KALEIDOSCOPE: Paper Taking Shape.  It was a fun event where I met some interesting artists who all have an Etsy Shop.
The paper weaving piece of art I made today.  We also worked on articulated paper dolls.
