Halloween

"Shadows of a thousand years
Rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees,
Tonight is Halloween!"

Another Front Porch Squatter!

Halloween Eve

“Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,—
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and caldron bubble.”
William Shakespeare

Happy Halloween!!

Jake's Mail

Jake received this darling Halloween card from "Soot" (Ibby and Bill's Cat) today ~ Cute little doxies in Halloween costumes on the front.  Jake says "Thank you, Soot."  What a sweet surprise!

Now this...

THIS really really tall "thing" is walking around in our Lowe's!!

Creepy

Saw these last evening by some old warehouse buildings. Creepy looking old cemetery vaults. I wonder if the vampires come out at night.

Blue Ridge Parkway

On the Blue Ridge Parkway this afternoon.  Pretty, but still very green.

If I Were a Bird

If I were a bird, I would live in this tree.  I would have protection from the elements, water to drink, and a front row seat to watch the leaves change color.

Cactus

While walking Jake this morning.  I always stop and inspect the neighbor's cactus.  It always has some aspect of beauty to show me.

Sunset

Our sunset this evening!  A glorious day ending with a glorious sunset!  True color - no filters!  Amazing!

The Day After

Thank you God, for this glorious sunny and cool day.  I think it will help those who were affected by the wrath of Hurricane Michael here in our area yesterday.  Drying, cleanup, and repairs can begin.
There are hundreds of photos and videos circulating that show how very bad the flooding was.  I'm not going to post any more of them.  It's a new day to pray for those who need prayers and a day to bestow a kindness on a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger.

Tanglewood Mall

This is the main entrance to Tanglewood Mall. ACMoore Arts and Crafts is on the left on the other side of those benches ~ a store I am in often.  ):

Flooded Home in Roanoke

It is bad. There is water everywhere and the Roanoke River is going to crest at 19 feet tonight.  I have never seen anything like it. People keep posting photos and videos from all across the area and I keep gasping each time I see a new one. This is not my home, but I pass it all the time on my way to Grandin Village. It is not far from the building where my booth is.

Hurricane Flooding

 Greenbrier Nursery

The Roanoke Valley area was hit very hard today with flooding from Hurricane Michael. Trees down, roads closed, cars submerged, and a lot of water everywhere.

In front of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital
 Tanglewood Mall
 Gushing water.
Water over the lane going to our house.
 Ducks enjoying the excess water.

Gloom over my mountain.

Casey James Fish

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Casey !!
October 11th ~ the happiest day of my life.
You were the cutest baby and while you accomplished a lot in your "growing up" years, you have become an amazing adult who did SO well during your restaurant career years. You then set your sights on becoming  a pilot ~ and that you have done!!
I could not be more proud of you, son, or love you more!
I wish you joy and blessings throughout the coming year and ever after.
