HOSANNA TO THE KING !!

March

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade."

spring is an emotion

~photo and poem by Audrey

beauty
splendor
and quiet rain

the greening earth
draped with flora
has graced these tired winter eyes

celebrate the growth
inhale the smells
see and feel the light

the stars are many
the moon is bigger
brighter
healing

spring is an emotion
like no other

Throwback Thursday

1969 - During Summer break from KSU, I worked in Chicago as a Governess.  I worked for the most wonderful loving family, caring for their children.  Those months living with David, Bobby, and Margie were a very special time in my life.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY !!

Sweetness In The Mailbox

My sister surprised me with a St. Patrick's Day gift ~ somehow (wink - wink) she knew I was out of my signature fragrance, "Beautiful".  When I opened the mailbox today, there was a package from her with a bottle of "Beautiful" inside.  A VERY nice surprise!!  Thank you, Patty!! ♥
On Saturday, I received the sweetest card from her.  A "for no reason" card ~ just telling me she loves me.
~ ~ ~
How wonderful that the mailbox can bring "love" to your doorstep!

Missing You

The last two nights I've had vivid dreams of both my brother and my mother.  The dreams seemed SO real.  Patrick and Mom looked exactly like themselves, as if they were here.  I think of them all the time but the dreams stirred up memories and deeper thoughts.  I miss them both SO much.

"Ode to Spring"
Work in progress ~ gesso, acrylics, pencil, torn paper, pastel crayons, and more to come.

A Good Find

Went to an Estate Sale in Daleville today.  Bought these two beautiful pottery pieces, both signed.  The vase is Mexico.  The large platter is Cady Clay Works.  Did some research.  Cady Clay Works is in Seagrove, North Carolina, where you will find the handmade pottery studio of John Mellage and Beth Gore.

Throwback Thursday

Summer, 1968 - Put-in-Bay, Ohio.  Put-in-Bay is a village on South Bass Island.  Larry and I went there to spend the day with some of his family.  It was a fun day until we left for home.  Larry drove a Corvair and on the way home the engine fell out of the car!  Literally!  He found an old belt in the trunk and tied the engine up high enough off the ground that we could crawl at a very low speed to somewhere where we could get help.  Not much open at night in those days.  We got to a gas station and all they could do was tie it up better until he could get me home. An experience I will never forget.  Poor Larry.  Mom was NOT happy.

March Moon

Our Moon on March 9 at 12:15 a.m.  It was a beautiful day, temperature in the mid 60s.  It is in the high 40s now and pleasant outside.  The moon looks a little like a Fall moon, a Halloween Moon.  Hoping the snow is done flying and Spring weather will be upon us soon.

A Happy Painting

Score!!  I went to an Estate Sale this weekend and spotted this great painting/collage by Mary Bullington of Roanoke.  I've been wanting one of her paintings for some time.  She is a fine artist who works in mixed media, acrylics, and collage.  I fell in love with it on sight yesterday.  Didn't even sleep well last night because I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went back today and treated myself with this purchase.  I am going to contact Mary to find out the name of the painting.
I hung it in the kitchen on the wall over my antique oak dry sink, but I am concerned because there are MANY windows in this area and I fear the light might fade the painting.  I need to check into this.  I am SO happy and excited ~ I love this painting.

I just found out the title.  It is THE FRENCH QUARTER.  Perfect!

Bluebird In The Rain

This was yesterday morning during our steady cold rain.  This little bluebird stood on the lightpost bar, waited patiently, then flew down to the ground every few minutes.  My guess is there were a good number of earthworms pretty close to the surface.  Once the snow started, he was nowhere to be found ~ off in a bush somewhere with a belly full of worms.

Full Worm Micro Moon

Full Worm Micro Moon right now!!  Tonight's moon is the smallest full moon of 2015.  At the time of this spring Moon, the ground begins to soften and earthworms reappear, inviting the return of robins.  This is also known as the Sap Moon, as it marks the time when maple sap begins to flow and the annual tapping of maple trees begins.

The Gallagher Children ~ Patty, Audrey, Patrick
I was 1-1/2 years old and had my entire life ahead of me.  Little did I know how much I would grow to love these two who held my hand and were always there for me. How perfect ~ a sister and a brother.  Throughout our lives, through all the joys and sorrows that life brings, we remained in close contact.  Patrick's physical presence is gone, but he is here in spirit ~ forever in my heart.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Patty !!
This little leprechaun is doing a birthday jig just for you, my sister.  I will hate to see you leave tomorrow.  We've had a lot of fun during your visit ~ eating out, antiquing, and working in my booths at Buy The Season.  I hope Spring will stir up good sales for us.
We had some snowstorms while you were here, but hopefully you and your hubs were a wee bit warmer than you would have been back home in Ohio.  It's going to be cold when you get back there.
So, for this Birthday, I wish you warmth, love, happiness, and FUN.  Not just for today, but for the coming year.
