Turtle Love

I moved another turtle to safety today.  Also, I recently read that after you pick them up to be sure to head them in the same direction they were moving when you put them down.  So, I did.
There are many woods and streams here.  Why do they insist on crossing the road? Greener? Relatives? Turtle shopping? Turtle Spa?

Cherry Cobbler

This evening I made cherry cobbler with the cherries Mr. Magic picked at Mary's yesterday.  It could have used a few more cherries, but all in all it tasted pretty good.

Cherry Pickin' Time

Mr. Magic pickin' cherries at Mary Bullington's.  While he was up in the tree, I was holding the ladder and the mosquitos had a buffet of my arms and legs ~ didn't touch him ~ I must have sweet blood.
There is something on the porch for you, Mary.

Spring Gem Show

I went to the 26th Annual Roanoke Valley Spring Bead, Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show yesterday morning.  Wow!  There were some beautiful pieces.  I treated myself to these two pendants: Sterling with a carved water buffalo bone moon, and sterling sunflower with honey citrine. Love!!  Did some Christmas shopping, too.  Yay!  I WILL be prepared come December this year.  No stress!!

Knee News

Spent three hours at the Orthopaedic Office this afternoon.  The knee is no better ~ Doctor suspects that something is torn, so MRI is next on the agenda.  They will call me sometime in the next 2 weeks for the MRI appointment.  If it is torn, surgery.  Looks like my South Carolina trip is on hold till maybe July.  I just want this resolved ~ tired of limping around.

Planting

It's another gloomy day with rain in the forecast for this evening.  I managed to plant a few flowers but I have more to plant.  It's difficult to plant bent over ~ still can't kneel on this knee.  I will wait for a sunny day to finish up.

Friendship

"Do not keep the alabaster box of your friendship sealed up until your friends are dead.  Fill their lives with sweetness.  Speak approving, cheering words while their ears can hear them, and while their hearts can be thrilled and made happier.  The kind of things you mean to say when they are gone, say before they go."
~George W. Childs

Sad

It made me sad to see these headlines in the paper this morning.  83% of our country claims to be Christian.  So, 17% are offended by these simple words, "Blessed are the peacemakers...".
I wonder how many years it will be before anything related to God/Religion is totally removed from our sight?
I feel certain God is offended by yet another removal of His Word.  I know I am.

Growing Hearts!!

Red Flash Caladium

Chipmunk

I've only seen the one chipmunk lately and he appears to have moved from the front porch area to the bushes above our stone wall.  Mr. Black Snake may have prompted this move.

Queen Mary

May is the month of our Heavenly Mother Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth.  Here she is wearing her crown of flowers at my church.

Permission to Play

I am taking Carolyn Dube's PERMISSION TO PLAY Workshop.  My first two cardboard "play" pieces.  Insignificant!  Just having fun!!

Beautiful May Day

Sitting outside with Jake enjoying the sunshine and breeze.  The only cloud in this beautiful blue sky!

Snake

Mr. Black Snake enjoying the sun at our garage door entrance.  I almost walked on him.  Not thrilled that he has taken up residence near our home, but he is supposedly harmless and helpful.  I encouraged him to move on to the flower bed so I could walk Jake.

Jake and I on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day 2017

Mom, I can see your face as clear as day and I can hear your laugh.  You can't be far away because I feel your presence.  You are the brightest star at night and your warmth shines on me during the day.  Thank you for your constant love.
Happy Mother's Day, Sweet Angel Mom!

Lilies

These Oriental Lilies arrived today from Casey and Amanda.  One has already opened up ~ they are SO beautiful and they smell heavenly!  They know how disappointed I was to have to postpone my trip.  I really wanted to be there for Mother's Day.
Thank you, my dear son and daughter-in-law.  Just another week or so.

Knees

I had my appointment with the orthopedic doctor this morning.  It seems it is only a tiny bone spur and a little arthritis that caused all that pain!!  It is much better already thanks to the medication they put me on right away.  I need to continue that for a few weeks and then return to the doctor only if the pain resumes.  He can then give me a cortisone shot if need be.  It is really nice for that awful pain to be gone and to be able to walk normal again.  It was also nice to hear him say that my knees are in good shape other than a little clicking and grinding which is normal at my age.
Since I'm not anywhere near ready to leave for SC now, I will wait a week or two and then go. Happy to have that to look forward to.
