Llamas or Alpacas?

I've been calling these little darlings "llamas", but I'm now thinking they are "alpacas". Whatever they are, they are adorable and I would LOVE to have a couple of them grazing in my back yard. We were returning from a tag sale last Saturday when I spotted these little ones off in the distance. I had to stop and get a good look at them and take pictures. I fell in love. They seemed very gentle and didn't mind my being up close. The one followed me up and down the fence ~ no matter which way I went, he/she was right there by my side. It won't do me any good to research the pros and cons of having a couple of these cuties because I know DH will say No Way!! We have a good size yard, but I'm not sure how the neighbors would react either. I guess I'll just have to go visit this little farm outside of town if I want to see these sweet little faces. How can anything with a nose that big be so darn cute???

Oh! They are soooooo cute with their little Punk-Do's after the shearing!
E-mail Jan as she has llamas and she will be able to tell you what they are.
I think size is part of the difference, though there could be a lot more.
I think you need a couple! :-)

HAHA! I love the 'do's! So cute with their little mop heads. I want one, too. But since I have a zoo here, I think I'll have to be good and say no. :) xox Pam

Glad that I was able to see the animals up close with you. Yes, that one did follow you----I think that it took a shine to you. They are cute as can be. My vote is that they are llamas. The alpacas which I have seen are big and burly. Your sister

I'd say alpacas. For some reason people shear the alpacas close like that but llamas are usually left a bit longer. Llamas are bigger. I wish you could have a couple, they are so little trouble. Maybe you can just go back and visit more often, it does seem like you have an admirer! One besides me, that is:-)
