Black Phoebe

I get very excited when I see a new bird in the yard. This guy appeared about a week ago. I had never seen him around before and I had no idea what kind of bird he was. So, I did my usual detective work and he looks like he could be a BLACK PHOEBE. Black Phoebes are black-and-white flycatchers of the Southwest and are almost always near water. I have several water features in my flower gardens, so I guess this is possible. However, if he is a Southwestern bird, he is a long way from home. I saw him in the back yard again the other day, so maybe he will be a regular visitor. I think he's very cute.

If he isn't a Black Phoebe and someone out there knows what he is, please let me know. Thanks.

This little critter is so cute. I've never seen one here but then I am urban not rural southwest. But your post of this cutie made me miss my quiet back porch time. I have been so maniacal with all the Halloweening that I haven't taken a moment for me and my birdie, turtle buddies. So thanks my friend for extending the slow down message from the universe to me. Have a blessed weekend and don't forget to come back on Monday to see if you won the Queen of Halloween Crown. The Olde Bagg

I get excited too when I see an unfamiliar bird in my yard. So lucky that you were able to get the photo of this one, it is so helpful for identification. I have never seen a Phoebe, it is very cute. Another one to put on your list. Good eye, Audrey!

Fabulous photo! I love when I get new visitors, too. Lately, I've been spider watching. It's fun, too. Blessings!

He is so cute! I have no idea who he is. I've not seen them up my way. Today I saw a marbled orb weaver spider (bright orange!). You would have thought it was Christmas, Audrey, I was so excited! lol! xox
