A Shout Out and Busy Blue Birds

I have to give a Shout Out to Corrine of dosfishes. She recently became my 100th follower. Besides having a very interesting and colorful blog, Corrine has one thing I would love to have here at my home in the mountains ~ a lake!! She has stories to tell about the birds and the fish at her lake. The above photo is a portion of a painting she did and it's a beauty. To see the entire piece, make a visit to her blog ~ you'll enjoy it!! http://dosfishes.blogspot.com

I took the birdbath in for the winter. It was a wedding gift from my DH's sister and I don't want to take any chances on the freezing weather damaging it. I put this sad looking plastic base from a planter out to replace it just in case the birds get thirsty. Sure enough, the blue birds were out today making good use of it.

The blue birds were busy at the bird house today. Every now and then I see them out there at the opening to the house, flapping their wings, going in and out of the house. I'm not sure what this ritual is all about. I would be interested to know. Whatever it means, they were doing it for quite some time late this morning.

I love seeing bluebirds! You have a lot of them. :) Do they winter inside your birdhouses? We got a dog dish for our birds that keeps the water from freezing. We put it out on our deck near the birdfeeder. At first the birds didn't know what to do with it, but they have the hang of things now, and are drinking from it (as are the dogs!). xox!

Oh those little bluebirds make me miss green grass and the sound of all the outside birds singing!
I just started following Corrine and she has some of the most amazing photos of birds I have seen---and I do love birds!
Her use of color is enviable too---in a GOOD way!
Congrats to you on #100!!!

Thanks so much for the mention. You have mountains and really we have a little pond(not a lake), but it is water nonetheless and wonderful to watch at all times of the year. Bluebirds here too that live in my neighbor's pastures. They really sparkle in the winter when everything is so white. Those heated dog water dishes work well, like yoborobo says and their is a solar bird water thing I have seen too. Maybe from Gardener's in VT. I am glad I am somebody's 100th follower. xox Corrine

Fantastic blue bird photos. I have a small tub that is full of rocks I have collected, it stays full of water too and the birds love it. The rocks give them good traction for when they want to bathe.

Congrats on your 100th follower. I have been following Corrine for awhile now too, I agree, she is a talented artist and seems a very nice person also.

Hey, I also noticed you have changed your blog format. It has screwed up your snowflake app, at least on my screen. The background keeps jumping around and the snowflakes just go in a straight line horizontally. Otherwise I like your new background, although I can only see it on my desk top, not my little lap top screen.
