Mom and the Care Center

Mom enjoying the Autumn decor at the Care Center where she now lives.
Is she not the cutest 96 year old ?
This is one of the courtyards at the Care Center.  They have a large porch in the front of the building.  I take her outside as often as possible to sit.  It won't be long before the weather changes and she will be inside for the long cold winter.

Mom's room is on the end.  She has a beautiful large crepe myrtle tree right outside her window to enjoy.  There is a large door/window in the hall outside her room and she likes to sit there and look out at the green of the mountains.

It has been an adjustment not having Mom at home with us.  It took me a while to realize that I wouldn't be able to handle her on my own.  After all the visits to the Care Center at various times of the day and evening, I can see that her needs are being taken care of.  She is comfortable there and is well liked.  She tells me often that they are kind to her.  Hearing these things helps a lot.  I feel blessed that she is able to communicate with us as well as she does.  There are so many there who can't.
I visit often.  There are some things that only a daughter can do for her mom ~ she loves it when I bring her cookies or some kind of sweet snack.  She loves trips to doctor appointments, being on the porch, talking about family, visits from Jake, and knowing there will be return visits.  I can tell she knows we love her and I can see the love in her eyes.  I'm sure God is watching over her as she has been ever so faithful to Him all of her life.

Audrey, your mom is beautiful. :) And I miss taking my mom those little things, and talking to her on the phone. Next time you see your mom, give her an extra hug for me! xo

Your mom is so darling and she looks younger than her age. The place she is living looks very nice.

It is wonderful to see these pictures of your Mom looking so well. It does seem like the best thing for her at this stage in her life and sounds like it is working out well for both of you. Hopefully you are less stressed out not being her primary care giver although I know you were happy to be doing that. You are the best daughter a mother could ever hope for, and a good friend too.
