stairway to nowhere

stairway to nowhere
i climbed these steps

one by one

slowly

deliberately

not because they went anywhere

but because i loved the form of them

i loved the moss on them

i loved the creeping vines

i loved the look and feel of the cold damp stone

and as i walked back down i wondered

if they ever did lead to somewhere

that time one day erased

I love the last lines where you wonder.

Beautiful poem, Audrey. I think they look magical - like stairs to another world. Maybe a fairy world. :) xox Pam

Beautiful both the words and the picture. Those stairs are magical and stir up images of long ago.

Perhaps these are the "secret" stairs to your dreams and you need to figure out the method of entrance. Perhaps there is a pot of golf beneath the vines? Perhaps you found the area to share with all your followers so that they, too, can speculate. Have enjoyed seeing and daydreaming. Love your sister

Love the stairs Audrey. It does make you wonder if they were to a larger garden, a path to a house or shed, where did they go?
They are so beautifully made; is this on your property?

Words, photos both are very thoughtful and beautiful. There is a mystery to the both. The Olde Bagg

Oh my, they are beautiful and intriguing. We don't have moss here. I want moss. Love your poem, oh clever one! **kisskiss** Deb

Oh gees! This is my third attempt to leave a comment. My Firefox keeps crashing.

Audrey, I love stairs, man=made or natural. Wonder where the steps led to, in the past.

What a wonderful flight of stairs to ascend or descend, no matter whether they ascend or descend to anywhere or nowhere.

I missed this post, seems I have missed a few of yours, sorry. Love the photos and the poem, very evocative of something that is gone but not forgotten. Hope you are well and having a good autumn weekend.♥

Beautiful cascade of stone and poetry, Audrey! I love stonework, especially one that looks like it has history and silent stories. I wouldn't be surprised if you found yourself whisked to a magical world when you reached the top.

Have a great weekend!

I love old stairs. Down at the beach there are some old stairs with rusty railings and the stairs drop off above the sand. I imagine all the passed tides at those stairs.
