The Day After
Thank you God, for this glorious sunny and cool day. I think it will help those who were affected by the wrath of Hurricane Michael here in our area yesterday. Drying, cleanup, and repairs can begin.
There are hundreds of photos and videos circulating that show how very bad the flooding was. I'm not going to post any more of them. It's a new day to pray for those who need prayers and a day to bestow a kindness on a neighbor, a friend, or a stranger.

Tanglewood Mall
This is the main entrance to Tanglewood Mall. ACMoore Arts and Crafts is on the left on the other side of those benches ~ a store I am in often. ):
Flooded Home in Roanoke
It is bad. There is water everywhere and the Roanoke River is going to crest at 19 feet tonight. I have never seen anything like it. People keep posting photos and videos from all across the area and I keep gasping each time I see a new one. This is not my home, but I pass it all the time on my way to Grandin Village. It is not far from the building where my booth is.
Hurricane Flooding
Greenbrier Nursery
The Roanoke Valley area was hit very hard today with flooding from Hurricane Michael. Trees down, roads closed, cars submerged, and a lot of water everywhere.

Gushing water.
Water over the lane going to our house.
Ducks enjoying the excess water.

Gloom over my mountain.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Casey !!
October 11th ~ the happiest day of my life.
You were the cutest baby and while you accomplished a lot in your "growing up" years, you have become an amazing adult who did SO well during your restaurant career years. You then set your sights on becoming a pilot ~ and that you have done!!
I could not be more proud of you, son, or love you more!
I wish you joy and blessings throughout the coming year and ever after.

Hurricane Michael
It is pouring! Hurricane Michael is near. We have tornado watches east of us and flash flood warnings upon us. We can handle this ~ it is nothing compared to what Florida went through. My heart goes out to them.

October 10, 1970
On this day 48 years ago, I married Jim Fish. In a perfect world the three people in the photo with me would still be living ~ Jim, dear Mom, and brother Patrick. But, life goes on and we live with our many memories. Happy Anniversary, "Fisho".
Clouds
Beautiful sky a few days ago. Not so nice today ~ Rainy and gloomy. I can't complain when I think about what is happening in Florida with Hurricane Michael.
I am supposed to be in Charleston at Casey's right now. Was looking forward to being there to celebrate his birthday tomorrow. My ER visit and the weather down there caused us to postpone for now.

ER
Guess where I spent the day? Got released at 9:45 tonight! Long long day. I've been dealing with shortness of breath and tightness in the chest for several days. Like they say, better safe than sorry.
After blood work, EKG, Xrays, and hours of waiting: EKG and heart blood tests - good. Chest Xray showed inflammation - bronchitis! They caught it so early I hadn't started the coughing yet. So, I was sent home with an inhaler. The mental relief I feel was worth the wasted day.

Blessing of the Animals
Jake sitting on my knee eagerly waiting to arrive at the church.
*****
This morning was The Blessing of the Animals at our church. Jake was happy to be among so many dogs all at one time and Deacon Eric sprinkled him with a good dose of holy water!
"The animals of God's creation inhabit the skies, the earth, and the sea. They share in the fortunes of human existence and have a part in human life. God, who confers his gifts on all living things, has often used the service of animals or made them symbolic reminders of the gifts of salvation."
Jake was happy. I think he went up to every dog to say hello.

We tried a new place tonight ~ Rodeo Grande. It was good, but I still like everything about Abuelo's better.

My 4th Artist Trading Card arrived from Illinois. Thank you, Carol Weiler, for this little work of art. I love your "found" poetry and the pretty little papers.
I am loving being a member of this group!

October
OCTOBER. My favorite month! The number one reason I love October is because my awesome son was born in October. After that, there are many reasons. The color change is breath-taking, and the smell of pumpkin everything, spice, apple cider, and burning leaves is unforgettable. I love the crisp air and the crunching of the dried leaves. I like seeing people in sweaters of brown, green, orange, and maroon, with scarves around their necks. There is a special quality in the air ~ removing us from the heat of Summer and into the chill of Autumn and Winter. I love seeing pumpkins, gourds, scarecrows, crows, candy corn, and even Halloween decor everywhere I go. I've waited all year for October. It's here and I am celebrating its arrival!
We had some great times together over the years and I sure miss you. I was thrilled to spend some time with you while I was in Canton in August. It had been far too long.
I am SO happy that you and Terry found each other. He seems nice and I love that you two are seeing the world together. You sure deserve happiness!
My wish for you today is that you will continue to find joy in your life each and every day.
Hoping to see you again on my next visit to Ohio.
