I had hoped the little bluebirds would still be in the nest when we returned from SC on Sunday. They really seemed to be growing quickly, so I didn't hold much hope. I was right. They were gone and the nest was empty. The information I read said to take the empty nest out of the house so the birds would use the house again. Mission accomplished. I noticed the Momma bluebird went into the house today for a few minutes - perhaps she was checking it out for the next brood. We shall see.
The first picture was taken on May 25th, the day before we took off for SC. They were looking pretty bright-eyed already. The second picture is the empty nest.

Our Phoebes have fledged also. Missed it this year but did get to watch mom and dad teach them how to hurt for insects :)
Isn't it amazing how quick baby birds grow and are gone? I had planned on taking more shots of the robin's nest in the gutter but the babies are now adult-sized...chasing the parents and squawking!!! LOL!!!
XXOO!!
Anne
That was fast, wasn't it? They were so adorable and chubby. :) We have sparrows in our nests that hang in our garden. I love to watch them eating the bugs. Go sparrows! lol! Have a great weekend, Audrey - take care of yourself. xox! Pam
They were so adorable. I am glad our little ones don't grow up and leave so fast.
oh I so understand, when we left our cabin this past weekend a mother robin was sitting on her nest and I just know when I return they will all be moved out :(
So long, it's been good to know you! Come back soon! do they come back for a second round? "My" swallows haven't even started sitting yet. Actually, I don't know that for a fact, they might be sitting but I hear no peeping yet. sorry you missed the first flight but you did have more important things to see, didn't you.
Hi Audrey,
Ohhh, those "Kiss faces" Geese are gorgeous!
Great photo.
I'm sure the bluebirds will be back next year!
Hugs,
Anna
oh yes and this one too should be in the secret garden! ;)
goodmorning, Fairy Fish!
What? The mama bird is gravid again? What she just keeps on laying eggs? This is great! I need a birdhouse - for myself.
