I am SO excited.  I just purchased this wonderful original painting by John Bramblitt.  I wrote a post (6/29/13) about John after his visit to Roanoke in June.  This man is blind and he paints the most colorful, wonderful paintings.  We have exchanged several emails and I must say John is not only talented, he is quite personable and has a great sense of humor.  I recently started to read his book,  Shouting in the Dark My Journey Back to the Light.  I cannot wait for this painting to arrive.

Wax Plant Bloom

While visiting in Maryland one summer, I was given a "start" from a friend's Wax Plant.  That "start" has done very well and has grown into a lovely Wax Plant.  However, it only gets one bloom on it every year.  This is the second time it has bloomed this year.  I love the blooms.  They are fun to watch as they take their time opening up and they last a long time once opened.

Mishap

What a difference a day makes.  Grammy was so happy to see Casey and I yesterday for a visit while he is in town.  Today, I spent almost 4 hours in the ER with her ~ the food cart took a big gouge out of her leg early this morning when she and the food cart collided in the hall.  The poor dear is constantly getting banged up.

Full Buck Moon ~ Supermoon

Well, Monday night the cloud cover was thick and dark ~ no sign of the supermoon.  Tuesday night was a beautiful perfect summer night, but the sky was once again blotchy with clouds.  This is the best I could get of the supermoon.  Maybe next month we'll have clear skies when the full moon arrives.

Thinking of you today and remembering the joys and trials of college life ~ memories tucked away that surface now and then and always bring a smile to my face.  I wish you a joyful day and may the coming year be one of your best.

Clouds Hide the Moon

Last night, clouds hid the light from our big Virginia moon.  I hope tonight's sky will be clear so we can appreciate the light of this month's Full Buck Moon.  Tonight's moon will be the third full supermoon of 2013.

Annual Visit with Good Friends

 Don and Carol live in Texas ~ just a little too far to be able to get together on a whim.  Don has family living close to Lynchburg, so they make a visit every year to our area.  Since we now live in Virginia, we drive to Lynchburg each summer to have dinner with them.  After catching up on current events in our lives, the discussion always turns to old times and fun we had together back in Ohio and Michigan.  Laughter is good medicine ~ as well as time spent with good friends who have a special place in my heart.  One of these days we hope to visit them in Texas.  It's a long drive unless I can get over my fear.  I love that beautiful sky but I am not comfortable at all being up there in an airplane.

It was a great evening and a beautiful night for the drive.  On the way back home, the sky treated us to some beauty.  I've posted a few of the many photos I took.

 Tuesday gave us sun, heat, clouds, wind, thunder, lightning, rain and then THIS amazing sky.  I couldn't stop taking photos.  It was extremely beautiful.  If this was the result of the weather pattern ~ it was worth dealing with the heat and the storm.
