Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday

Sometime in the 1950s ~ Kathy Hanlon, John Hanlon, and Audrey. We were always outside playing ~ "Dressup" was a big deal, playing house, playing school, and playing cowboys and indians. Technology was a thing of the future ~ I am grateful it wasn't a part of my childhood.

Birthday

Happy Birthday to my great-nephew Jonathan!

This is a milestone for you!  16!!  Have a great day and a fun exciting year.  💓

Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sweet friend Mita!

I hope the Covid situation is not too bad where you live in Indonesia and that you are able to celebrate! It is hard to believe how many years have gone by since we met. I love seeing your art progression on IG and knowing that you are doing what you love.

I hope your day is as beautiful as you are. 💓

Wise Words

“I spent an hour in the bank with my dad, as he had to transfer some money. I couldn't resist myself and asked...

''Dad, why don't we activate your internet banking?''
''Why would I do that?'' He asked...
''Well, then you won't have to spend an hour here for things like transfer.
You can even do your shopping online. Everything will be so easy!''
I was so excited about initiating him into the world of Net banking.
He asked ''If I do that, I wont have to step out of the house?
''Yes, yes''! I said. I told him how even grocery can be delivered to the door now and how amazon delivers everything!

His answer left me tongue-tied.

He said ''Since I entered this bank today, I have met four of my friends and I have chatted a while with the staff who know me very well by now.
You know I am alone...this is the company that I need. I like to get ready and come to the bank. I have enough time, it is the physical touch that I crave.
Two years back I got sick - The store owner from whom I buy fruits, came to see me and sat by my bedside and cried.
When your Mom fell down a few days back while on her morning walk, our local grocer saw her and immediately got his car to rush her home as he knows where I live.
Would I have that 'human' touch if everything became online?
Why would I want everything delivered to me and force me to interact with just my computer?
I like to know the person that I'm dealing with and not just the 'seller'. It creates bonds of relationships.
Does Amazon deliver all this as well?"

Technology isn't life.
Spend time with people.
Not with devices.

Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kathy!! (Kathy Hanlon Rarey)

I hope every birthday, including today, has been as happy as you looked on this January 23, 1960 Birthday!!
Remembering many birthday celebrations, yours and mine, when we were young carefree girls. Our moms always made those days special with cake and celebration.

Gift

Linda Exstrom how sweet you are!!
I love that it’s covered in paws.
Thank you for this birthday surprise.

Special Gifts

Wanting to share just a couple of precious birthday gifts.

My sweet sister Patty and b-i-l Jim are always here for my birthday and, bless their hearts, always make it a big celebration.
Unfortunately, due to Covid, they are not here for the winter this year.
They wanted to be sure I had a cake - this sea themed cake arrived in the mail (not quite as round as when it left Ohio), but quite the surprise, pretty, and very tasty.
Along with the cake, came this beautiful Royal Copenhagen Dachshund figurine from Patty and Jim. It is quite special.
Good friend Ibby dropped off this amazing calendar - The Holy Rosary Adorned. Each month has a beautiful photo of a rosary with a description. I love it!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

My Sunday Thought

My Sunday thought.
We each have different backgrounds, different likes and dislikes. We each have a different skin color and a different nationality.
We each have our own story to tell, whether it be sad or uplifting.
The bottom line: We are human and we each have talents and flaws. We are each capable of understanding, forgiving, loving.
Our country is in trouble. The world is in turmoil. The news is bleak. WE MUST START WITH EACH OTHER. Let’s at least TRY to spread the love in spite of our differences.
