Return Home Greeter

We headed home from downtown and this doe greeted us as we drove up the lane toward home.

Downtown Roanoke

We went downtown for brunch today.  The hanging baskets are so beautiful.

Saturday Evening Sky

This is looking out my living room window.
It was an overcast gloomish Sunday, but the sky last evening was gorgeous!

Eight Years

Eight years, Patrick!!  It feels like only eight days since I held your hand in the ICU while you took your last breath.  I miss you.  I love you.  I know, Bro, that one day we will laugh together again.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Careostar!!
Thinking of you today with love, and remembering the many wonderful times spent together over the years.
Sending wishes that your day will be special and prayers that your next year will be filled with joy and blessings!

Vintage Vehicle

This vehicle drove past our house yesterday.  I just happened to be out in the garage, and living on a cul-de-sac, I had time to pick up my phone and take the photo as the car turned around in the circle and drove back by again.  Vintage cars are SO cool.

Doe

I ran an errand early this evening and found this doe eating along the side of the road. She was SO busy munching, she didn't mind that I stopped and took pictures.

Rain! Rain! Rain!

One lone little flower left on the crepe myrtle outside my bedroom window.  And while snapping the photo just now, I was lucky to spot a cardinal flying around in same tree.  It is very wet outside ~ been raining off and on for days with another 7-day forecast of rain.  It's a good bet I won't be seeing the Full Harvest Moon tonight.

Fall Equinox

Fall Equinox
September 22, 2018 * 9:45 pm EDT
The Fall Equinox occurs when the sun crosses the celestial equator.  The word equinox comes from the Latin words "Aequus", which means Equal, and "Nox", which means Night.
Daylight last about 8 minutes longer than nightime on the day of the equinox.
Our first full moon of Autumn ~ The Harvest Moon ~ will rise on Monday, September 24th.
HAPPY FALL!!

On The Way

Success! Finished my Artist Trading Cards and off they went today to Australia, United Kingdom, Vancouver, California, Illinois, Washington, and New York! I hope you love my small tribute to Autumn.  I used acrylic paint, thread, stickers, and a maple leaf from my yard as a stencil.

ATC

My 3rd Artist Trading Card arrived today from Australia.  Thank you, Slobodanka Bobby Graham, for the interesting card showing all the papers sent to you over time from the members of the group. Clever idea!!

PEACE

Today is INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE!
We must act upon any little thing we can do today to make peace in some way - be it at home, in the workplace, on the street...  Make it a snowball effect!
Don't let world peace be just a dream.

And Now!!

And now!!  Amazing how nature works.

This Just Happened

This heavy heavy rainstorm just came out of nowhere.  It rained HARD for 35 minutes straight and we now have small rivers all over the yard.  I hope it doesn't do this in North Carolina.

Sleepy Little Guy

How adorable is this? After dinner, Jake laid down right next to me on the couch and went to sleep.  He never sleeps on his back like this.  I loved watching him sleep.

Blue Sky

Our sky today, and it was 87* out.  This sure beats all those grey gloomy days of Florence!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Amanda!
Sending love and wishes that all your dreams will come true.

ATC

My 2nd Artist Trading Card arrived today.  This one from Vancouver's Mariette Hebert.  "In The Garden" is precious, Mariette, and thank you for the little papers to use on future ATC's.

Hurricane Florence

We took a ride down by the Roanoke River.  It's high, over its banks, and running fast.  But, its been worse.  A lot of debris rolling by, even a few ducks riding the current.  Jake watching from the car window.

Chickadees

The chickadees have been very busy eating today.  I hope they will be ok through all the pending rain.

Uh-oh!!

Uh-oh!!! The Weather Channel is at Hotel Roanoke!

Hurricane Florence

It looks like Florence is going right over us once she makes landfall.  A LOT of rain in the forecast here.  With the Roanoke River winding through the valley and all that rain, we are sure to have some very bad flooding.
Meanwhile, down in SC, Casey is busy putting up his metal shutters over their many windows.  Such a big tiring job.  They will leave town tomorrow morning.

Beautiful Statue

I am finally finishing unpacking from my Ohio trip.  My gout flare-up was a long one.  This 16" chalkware, made in Italy, lovely statue, was one of my favorite finds in Ohio.  She is a keeper!!

Remembering 9/11

Air Evac Lifeteam 121 - Beckley, W Va.

On this evening, 17 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift of saving lives. None of them saw past 10:00am on Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment, life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted.

And please say a special prayer for those protecting your freedom, home and abroad, and those responders selflessly serving the public every day.

9/11. Never forget.
