Making Memories

Picked up Casey at 2:30 and off to Abuelo's Mexican Restaurant we went for a late lunch.  Had a great meal and visit and then off to The Pine Room at the Hotel Roanoke where we talked and laughed till almost 8:00.  SO happy to have him "home".

August 31

Knees felt pretty good today.  This was at 1:45 when I was leaving to go to the airport to pick up my son Casey.  He flew in today to stay for a few days.  Happy!  Happy!

Injections

The "torture" chair, as I lovingly call it.

Finally!  I got to sit in the "torture" chair yesterday to get my knee injections.  I had to wait 14 days before the doc would give me the shots.  He wanted to be sure all the prednisone was out of my system.  He put me on prednisone because I was having terrible pain in my hip and down my leg (arthritis and a touch of sciatica).  And the knees were bad, too.  But he wanted to get the hip in good shape first.  It has been a long painful 14 days.
I am feeling a definite difference today.  Can almost walk normally again.  I hope to see further improvement over the next few days.  The wonder of modern medicine.  And kudos to Dr. Jesse B. Seamon, MD, Orthopedics, Carilion Hospital.  My comfort level is very high with his knowledge and procedure.

National Dog Day

It's National Dog Day!!  Here is my treasure ~ Jake!!

Living the Creative Life

Therry added singing from the wolf.

Amanda added an eagle and the ghosts of a Roman Patrol marching through the basement of the Treasurer's House in York.
Wally added the lily pad.
Audrey added the whale with school of fish.
Margaret added the flowing moon.
Michele 's beginning piece ~ this beautiful crow.

Our LIVING THE CREATIVE LIFE group met last evening in Wasena Park.  By chance, a group of children with a few of their parents who were having an art experience, was sharing the shelter with us.  They asked us to judge the art work and they gave out awards.  It was quite nice to see children ages 4-11 outside participating in this, and we all enjoyed being a small part of it.

We oohed and aahed over the additions to our Round Robin pieces, eager to see what they will look like next month.  A fun gathering!!

Peaches and Tomatoes

Friend Ibby dropped off some peaches and tomatoes.  We will certainly enjoy them.  Thank you Bill and Ibby!

Sweet Jake

Jake had a couple days of not feeling so good.  Something intestinal.  Today he is all back to normal and as chipper as can be.
😊  God is good!

Vendor Night

Last night on my way home from Vendor Night.  It was 8:15 and getting quite dark already.  I don't like this!!

Artist Trading Cards

Art Card Group "ANATOMY" themed cards are on the way to: Canada, Switzerland, Australia, UK, Illinois, New York, and California.
I decided to make little abstracts using different parts of the anatomy.  If nothing else, they are colorful. 😂

Neighborhood Party

Edith and Donna

Mo and Grace hosted a get-together for all of us living on this street.  We set up in the cul-de-sac with tables, chairs, and SO much great food that everyone brought.  We hadn't done this in years ~ it was fun to visit with everyone and to meet new neighbors.  A very enjoyable Saturday evening!

Saturday Classes

While running errands this afternoon, this mom and her three precious little ones were headed into one of the Roanoke College buildings.  I hated Saturday classes when I was in college!  😂

Caught in the Window

Hey Jax!!  I see you up there.  I bet you're supposed to be napping.  😂

Our Lady of Knock

Today is the feast day of Our Lady of Knock.

On August 21st, 1879, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared outside a small village church in Knock, Ireland.  The apparition was witnessed by 15 people and consisted of Mary, St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist, and a Lamb and Cross.

Friday Night Sky

It was 1:30 and the sky was SO clear.  Look how bright Jupiter is at the top left.
