52nd Annual Sidewalk Art Show
The 52nd Annual Sidewalk Art Show is being held this weekend in downtown Roanoke. I love this show and look forward to it every year. 150+ talented artists lining the streets of downtown is something to see. The only problem was the HEAT. It must have been 95*. I had to duck into the Taubman Museum of Art for about 1/2 hour to just sit and cool off. So much art.... so little time.... too much heat. It seems the weekend of this show always has high temperatures. We've had surprise thundershowers almost every day this past week, so getting through today with no raindrops was a plus. I could not leave without purchasing a piece of art. Using the process of elimination, I decided on this little beauty. It is only 8-1/2" x 6" frame and all, but I fell in love with it. It is done with pastels by Bill Gramley of Lewisville, NC. It is titled "October Light".

You know, art shows are wonderful but it is ALWAYS when it is hotter than you know what here, or we have severe storms.
Seems like Fall would be a wonderful time for them....when you can linger and really look.
Love the small piece; I have grown to thoroughly enjoy small art!!!
XXOO!!
Anne
Your're right, Anne. Even the beach towns in FL seem to have their art shows in the heat of the summer. Fall would be a GREAT time for art shows.
Sounds like a fun event. The heat would be nice here, we are still cold and wet! It was nice yesterday but already back to cold and wet. Great purchase.
Lucky you! Art shows are next to non-existant around here with only one in October.
What a lovely piece you have purchased!
