OHIO
I will be off Blog for a week or so. We are heading to Ohio to visit friends and relatives.
As much as I love going, I hate the process of getting ready to travel ~ packing, arrangements, etc. It would be so nice to just get in the car and go with no baggage to haul along.
I hope to visit a few great consignment shops while there. There is a wonderful, large flea market in the area that one can always find treasures at. I am hoping to bring some items back that will be tempting for the customers who browse in my consignment shop.
I will visit you from time to time while away, but it is doubtful that I will post anything. I will save that for my return.
Have a joyous 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION and take care.

Ups and Downs of Life
What a mixed bag of feelings I'm experiencing at this week's end. I learned today that a long time friend in Ohio, who just 2 months ago found out that she had leukemia, passed away on Tuesday. Much too young, she left behind her husband of 35 years, 3 sons, a daughter and 2 grandchildren, I will miss her zest for life and her contagious laugh.
On a happier note, my dear friend Sue, of 48 years, came unexpectedly yesterday morning to spend the day and night with me. She was on her way back to Ohio from a trip to her sister's. It did my heart good to have her here. We went to lunch, to a few consignment shops, and spent a relaxing evening just catching up and enjoying each other's company. She left this morning. I did not feel too bad that she had to leave because I am leaving midweek for a trip to Ohio and I will be staying with her while there. I have much to accomplish before then and that always puts me in a tailspin.
I want to share this beautiful full moon photograph that I took a while ago. I was out watering on this gorgeous summer night literally by the light of the moon. That magical thing that the moon does to us, made me feel grateful to be alive.
Goodnight, my friends.

World Happiness
You have it easily in your power to increase the sum total of this world's happiness now. How? By giving a few words of sincere appreciation to someone who is lonely or discouraged. Perhaps you will forget tomorrow the kind words you say today, but the recipient may cherish them over a lifetime.

A Gorgeous Old Tree
A few days ago, I posted a photo of this massive tree trunk because I thought it was interesting and beautiful. Several of you asked what kind of tree it is and asked me to post a picture of the entire tree. As you can see, it is so large I could barely get the whole tree in the picture. I've posted a close-up of the leaves, too. You can click on the photo for a better look. I don't know what kind of tree it is, so if you do, please let me know.
It is a beauty, isn't it?

Pool Dreaming.......
I am pretending this is Deborah's swimming pool. I am pretending I am standing in it right now feeling the refreshing cool water. Oh, it feels SO good. Deb, would you mind bringing me a raspberry margarita? I'm all wet and I can't go in the house. You're a doll!
Thanks for the dip, Deb!! You're a lifesaver.

Ripple Blog
This card, A Spoonful of Tragedy, was painted by Sally Taylor, a high school art teacher, illustrator, and artist in East Texas. It is the card I chose after making my donation to help with the Gulf oil spill.
If you haven't been to Kelly Light's RIPPLE BLOG, please make a visit: http://ripplesketches.blogspot.com
Kelly is making an effort to help with the Gulf oil spill. She started this Blog so we can make a simple $10. donation. In return, you can choose a small work of art painted by anyone who would like to take part. The details are all on Kelly's Blog. It is well worth the time to look at all the art cards that have been posted. They are so full of emotion and tell the story of how this tragedy is affecting all of us in some way. Be sure to click on the blog archive at the bottom of Kelly's Blog - she has received hundreds of entries and only the recent ones are showing on the Blog.

Fun Photos This Week
Our neighbors planted a small Mimosa tree last Fall. I was very surprised to see all the blooms on it this year. So pretty.
This very, very large tree is in my neighborhood. I love seeing it ~ the texture is wonderful ~ it looks like lattice work.
The sweetpeas are growing wild in the woods down from our house. There are many of them and they are so pretty.

Estate Sale Treasures
One of the sales I went to this afternoon was an Estate Sale. It was in a little old house that was filled with treasures from long ago. I could have come away with a lot of items, but I had to show some control. I am very happy with the items I purchased. This chandelier is all glass with many prisms hanging from the bottom. It needs cleaned up but I'm sure it will be beautiful once I finish that task.
I bought this simply because I thought it was interesting. It is made out of wood and seems to be a dustpan with a wood scraper to push the dirt onto the dustpan.
I could not resist this baby doll. I believe she is from sometime in the 60's. She is so beautiful ~ her eyes open and close and her arms and legs move. Love her!
I couldn't resist this doll bed either. It is so cute and it rocks.
