Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church

For those of you wanting to know, Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church is very old and is located on Sullivan's Island in South Carolina. While living in the Charleston area, my son and I would occasionally go to this church ~ there was just something about it that made us feel good ~ a certain warmth that comes with the age of the building ~ it is a small church with wood walls and ceiling and many old, beautiful statues ~ A very different feeling you get than when you are in a newer modern church. I am posting a couple more pictures from Stella Maris.

It looks like a wonderful place to enjoy prayer and to sit in silence with God.

There is great feeling of peace and contentment and warmt in the old churches. I agree the modern churches are not the same at all. Do you know Audrey, if there is an Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksburg?

Oh wow!!! I can imagine the feel and the *smell* of the wood in the church.
I love old churches; the personality and the particular sanctity they evoke is something newer structures just don't have.
there is an Anglican church here in town that is old and beautiful, not as much wood but very much the design of the real *church builders* era.
should have taken pics.....
Thanks for posting these!

It makes me feel good to know there are others out there who love the "old" churches. There definitely is a certain "peace" about them. Thank you for your comments.
