1918 - 1986
Sister Mary Corita Kent was an American artist, designer, educator, and former religious sister. Key themes in her work included Christianity and social justice. She was also a teacher at the Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles, California. It was a private Catholic college that closed in 1981 due to financial difficulties.
Sister Corita's art was her activism, and her spiritually-informed social commentary promoted love and tolerance.
I have posted just a few pieces from her collection.
