This is Father Steve at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wooster. The service was serene and his sermon was geared toward the meaning of Independence Day. I always enjoy it a lot when he offers the Mass. This prayer that he wrote is in the bulletin:
O God, by whom we enjoy the gift of the very breath of life, grant us generosity of heart toward all of our brothers and sisters. Grant us the grace to resist the Enemy’s lies that would keep us divided.
As our ancestors sought to establish a union where faith would form an essential element of its foundation, please turn the minds and hearts of
the citizens of these United States back to YOU, that we may know true peace - not simply as the absence of conflict, but the fullness of Shalom, given by Your Son, Christ our Lord. Amen.
