A Great Find

A couple of weeks ago, I was in a consignment shop and came across two boards propped in a corner of one of the vendor spaces. They were somewhat hidden with some books and things stacked in front of them.
I was quite excited when I saw what they were. I am thinking they are page mock-ups for a book of some type.
One of the pen and ink drawings was a large tree (as seen in the photos). Loving trees, I grabbed it up ~ had to have it! It is done on a piece of 15" x 20" Bainbridge Board. The text is glued on. It is signed A. Lohman, '49. There is a little water damage at the bottom, but I don't mind. I am going to frame it as is and hang it in my studio. I love it.
I have no clue who this A. Lohman is or if this was ever used in a book. I just think it is a great piece of art and I am thrilled to have it.
If you double click on the photo, you will be able to read the text as well as see some of the detail.

This is indeed a wonderful find. I love it. There is something very familiar about it too. Now I am going to be pondering the where and what of this today. How is the visit going with you beautiful boy? Hope all is grand. (((hugs))) until next time

WOW!!! The work reminds me a lot of Eric Sloan's books....I think they are still in print through Dover. If you are not familiar with him, Google his name.
That tree is magnificent; I do wonder what the story was behind the illustration and text?

XXOO!!

What a fun find! Wouldn't it be neat if one day someone found some of your art in an antique shop and restored it and framed it to enjoy?

Awesome find! Milo is a Millennium Bug from 1999. He had been hiding in my closet since then until last summer when he finally decided maybe the world did not end. I think he is making up for lost time, especially with Ces! **happy smiles** Deb

Nice find! I know you are keeping this but is this the sort of thing you will be selling in your shop space? I love this, don't blame you for keeping it, I would too.

I love that kind of thing... the finding of it, the mystery of who made it and what it was supposed to look like eventually, and of course the image itself and the words. I also like the way it's a bit damaged and was half-hidden behind some books. I'd love to think that one day some of my unfinished work could be found lying around and make someone happy! A good find.
