Winter Storm Diego

Winter Storm Diego dropped a foot+ of snow on the Roanoke Valley throughout the night and all day today.  Here are some photos showing the beauty from the snow all around my yard.
Most places were closed and there were many cancelations. Everything is staying closed again tomorrow ~ there is still some snow and possible freezing rain to come throughout tonight.

Grey Skies

Grey skies today as everyone prepared for Winter Storm Diego. They are forecasting 12" for our area ~ we'll see what we wake to in the morning.

Immaculate Conception

Today is the FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION.
The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception celebrates the solemn celebration of belief in the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary.
"Let us not imagine that we obscure the glory of the Son by the great praise we lavish on the Mother; for the more she is honored, the greater is the glory of her Son. There can be no doubt that whatever we say in praise of the Mother gives equal praise to the Son."
~St. Bernard of Clairvaux

Bluebird Landing

This sweet Bluebird 7-1/4"x7-1/4" painting by Robynne Engel-Pirkle of Georgia arrived today. I put in the winning auction bid and I dearly love it. Robynne sent the beautiful Madonna and Child ornament with it. What a nice surprise ~ it is perfect for my Madonna collection. Thank you, Robynne.

Flurries

It is 36*.  We had a few minutes of snow flurries and now the sun is shining.

Do You Pray?

Feeding the Animals

I put all the pumpkins I had used to decorate this Fall, in a corner of the yard after Thanksgiving.  I had hoped that hungry little creatures would gather and feast to fatten up before the snow flies.  It looks like they have have been nibbling.

Today's Late Afternoon Cemetery Visit

She was at the edge of the woods right by Mom and Patrick's graves.
And suddenly there were two.  They proceeded to walk through the cemetery grounds not minding us at all.
 My sweet family.
Time to leave.  It was getting dark.  By the time we drove out of the cemetery, there were 5 deer gathered by the fence bidding us farewell.
