A Walk Around the Yard

Every Spring/Summer, I share some yard photos with you.  Everything is so pretty right now, I thought I would take you on a walk to see what things look like this year.  We have been having temperatures in the 90s for several days now and it is taking a toll on the flowers and grass.  I hope the chance of thundershowers that are forecast everyday will turn into a reality very soon.

I had to include this little guy ~ he was by my side when I planted most of these flowers.  Jake is tired from running the yard in this heat.  I think I'll lie down next to him and rest for a while, too.

Dinner with Good Friends

We drove to Lynchburg Tuesday evening to have dinner and visit with good friends, Don and Carol.  They come to Virginia every year to visit Don's mom who is 101 and Don's brother who lives nearby.  Living in Texas, they began their long drive back on Wednesday morning.  I look forward to our annual visit ~ it's always great to see them and catch up.

Throwback Thursday ~ June 1951 ~ It's the time of year for gardening!  I am raking my heart out there on the left and it looks like my buddy, Kathy Hanlon, has thrown down her shovel for the day! 

I purchased this sweet little trellis at the consignment shop.  It is small, rusty, cream and pink.  It looks great in front of the honeysuckle that  has a mixture of cream, yellow, and pink blooms.  I love it!!

TWO blooms on my wax plant after 10 years of only ever having ONE!!  Happy!!

Jake is ready!

So funny.  First thing this morning ~ I walk into the living room and Jake has all his balls lined up ready to play.  He loves nothing more!

Social Book

My Facebook Social Book just arrived in the mail.  I am thrilled that I ordered it.  It's wonderful!!  I now have all the beautiful comments when Patrick and Mom passed, birthday wishes, and wonderful photos that I've posted over the last six years.  If you're on the fence, do it!  I can't wait to sit down and look through the entire book.  It's thick.

You never know if Facebook might come to an end or you lose all your Facebook Timeline content for some reason.  It could happen.

Throwback Thursday

Throwback Thursday ~ August 1952
It looks like Tommy (neighbor) and I made good use of the back porch.  We had our little house set up just right, with baby and all. We used the Open Air Plan ~ not bad thinking for 4 year olds.  It seems we had a phone ready for use, too.
Looking back at all the photos I have, this back porch must have been my favorite place.  Many of the photos are taken on this porch ~ special wonderful memories!

Words are not necessary.  When Daddy takes a nap on the lounge, Jake likes to jump up there and join him.  You can feel the love.

Something to Think About

Paper Painting

I've been wanting to try Paper Painting for about a year.  Yesterday afternoon, I perched myself on the back porch with my supplies and worked on this little 5"x5" until it was finished.  It was relaxing, fun, and I'm happy with the results.  I'm glad I started out small.  Now that I have a feel for it I might try a larger one.

I've been thinking a lot lately about our high school and college days.  Wow!  We had some good times, didn't we?  I will never forget your Corvair and all the places we went in it.  Those years were some of the best ~ sharing time, fears, boyfriend discussions, and so much more.  A lot has happened in the years since and we've lived FAR from each other most of those years.  This year I want to wish you a blessed birthday and good health.  And I want you to know that your friendship remains in my heart for always.
