Rain and The River

This was yesterday, the 29th.  After several days of rain, the river was high, muddy, and fast. It rained all night and is still raining.  I'll check the river later today.  I'm guessing it's going to be bad.

WOW!!!

WOW!!  Look what I found in my mailbox this afternoon.  My old friend, Tom Stephan, just made me very happy!  A few months ago he surprised me with a band trio of vintage Nun figurines.  THIS one is gorgeous!!  She is Goebel, W. Germany, 1978, almost 6" high x 4-1/2" wide.  I can't stop looking at her.

Thank you just doesn't seem enough, Tom.  Bless you for your sweet kindness.  (((Hugs)))  She will be the shining star of my collection.

Autumnal Equinox ~ First Day of Fall

You would never know that Fall has arrived here in the Roanoke Valley of Virginia.  I am looking out at a sea of green!  It has been a hot dry Summer giving us none of the usual first glimpses of Fall color that we normally see this late in September.

It will come.  No rush.  I am enjoying the remaining days of mild weather we are having.  In the meantime, Happy First Day of Fall.  You will soon see pumpkins everywhere, enjoy the taste of cider, and breathe in the smell of burning leaves.

While in Ohio in August, I stopped to visit my good friend of many years, Bruno.  While there, I got to meet his new companion, Mooshie!  I love Mooshie's eyes.  Beautiful, non sono forse?

The BEST Kind of Lunch

 Casey and I at the Roanoke Airport this afternoon.  He flew here today to take me to lunch.  My sister and brother-in-law joined us for lunch and we had a great visit.

I hate to see him leave to go back to SC when he just got here a few hours ago. Next visit, he said he will stay the night so we'll have more time.  Yay!!

As of yesterday, Mother Teresa is now Saint Teresa of Calcutta.  Pope Francis canonized Mother Teresa into Sainthood yesterday.  There is no question she is deserving of this honor.  I imagine even in Heaven, she is still praying for the poor on Earth.  We should follow in her footsteps and do what we can for the less fortunate.
