Here he is - same snowman, same spot every year, smiling big yesterday on the unbelievable 70 degree overcast day!

Thanksgiving 2015
In spite of this cold that just will not go away, I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with Casey, Amanda, Terry, and Amanda's family at The Natural Bridge Hotel. The foyer was beautifully decorated for the Holidays.

Two Exciting Hours With Casey
Having been sick and not out of the house since November 7th (even though not 100% better and looking a bit pale and windblown) I was not going to miss the opportunity to have lunch with my son. He flew into Roanoke at 12:30 yesterday.
His Approach - Right over the Roanoke Star
A wonderful young man who works at the airport - Steve - kindly escorted me onto the field so I could have a good view and take good photos. This was my first time seeing Casey in action.
Steve commented that it was a nice smooth landing for being so windy.
Approaching to park the plane.
My son, the pilot!!
We had a fun visit during lunch at Abuelo's Mexican Embassy and then it was time to head back to the airport.
Waiting for takeoff.
Headed back to Charleston, SC.

You left this earth two years ago today, Mom. I love you, I miss you, and I think of you each day. I hope Heaven is everything you hoped it would be.

The Good and The Bad
Stood in line for a total of 1-1/2 hours at an Estate Sale on Friday to get my hands on these treasures. Lucky for me, once I got inside I was able to claim all of the above. However, started feeling a sore throat coming on Friday night and have been SO sick ever since with a bad cold and sore throat. The constant cough is driving me insane. Haven't slept for two nights because of this cough. Feeling only a tad better today, but when evening rolls around, things always get worse. I have to be better sometime this week - Holiday Open House at Buy the Season starts on Saturday and I have much prep to do. I need some magic.

A Perfect Day
I took this photo in one of our city parks. It is 84* out today, sun shining bright, bees out and about, butterflies fluttering around, birds playing in the birdbath, some flowers are blooming, and the leaves are falling in the gentle breeze. It's November 6th and if there is such a thing as a perfect day, this is it!!
My Little Beach
It feels more like Summer than Autumn today. I leave this flower bed as is for the Winter. It's my little bit of beach 365 days of the year.

Bees
These bees have been busy on the honeysuckle all morning. It is 80* outside and the sun shining on the leaves is making them shimmer with color. It could not be a more beautiful Autumn day. I clipped some branches and cut down a few bushes for the winter. I have been doing a little each day. In the past, I've tried doing it all in one day and I end up exhausted and not feeling well. We have a large yard and there is a lot of maintenance in preparation for winter. The body just can't keep up with what the mind wants it to do anymore.
What a gift today is. Just being outside walking in the yard seeing the last of the Autumn beauty makes me feel good. The sun, every little leaf, the temperature, seeing the birds play, and having Jake by my side is a gift.

November 1
And so November begins with the beauty of the changing leaves. As each day passes, they will fade and fall. The smell of burning leaves will fill the air before the wind blows in a chill to remind us that winter will soon be upon us. I am spending as much time outside as I can, memorizing the beauty that is still with us.
