Canton St. Paul's School

Had a wonderful morning here in Canton, Ohio.
Some of my grade school classmates (Canton St. Paul's School) met at a local restaurant for breakfast this morning.  Many, I haven't seen since 8th grade graduation in 1962.
We spent the first 8 educational years of our lives together and attended daily Mass before school every morning.
Most of us lived in close proximity.  Our Catholic upbringing and a close knit community made us like family.
I had such a good time catching up and visiting with each of them.

Rain

This was my view for 3/4 of the trip yesterday. Ugh!!

Over the New River

Yesterday, in Narrows, Virginia, before the rain began.

I'm in OHIO

Been chatting with my sister and it's now after midnight and I am tired.  Drove most of the way in heavy rain, and sat on 77 for 1 hour due to an accident.  It took me 8 hours, but I arrived safely at 8:30 with no problems.  I thank each of you for your prayers and good thoughts.  I will post some photos tomorrow.
This is Mr. Magic and Jake as I was pulling out of the driveway.  Both looking pretty sad.

Here I Come OHIO

I am off to Ohio for a while.  Many friends to see and functions to attend.  Jake is staying home with Mr. Magic and I know I will be in tears in a few minutes as I say goodbye for now.  Jake and I have little daily rituals and he follows me all day long.  I'm sure Mr. Magic is in for some sleepless nights as Jake barks while looking for me.
I would love and appreciate a quick little prayer that my travels will be safe.

Double the Beauty

The last hard rain today had sunshine follow it and then this beautiful double rainbow! The sky is clear and blue now.  No telling what will be next.

Hard Rain

We had several very HARD rains this afternoon. Lost a number of blooms from our beautiful crepe myrtle.

Downtown Roanoke

We drove downtown for brunch this afternoon. There is always something that catches my eye.

Beautiful planters all around the center of town.

"Holy Family" Estate Sale Find

Disposing of some match sticks that mom had in the house.  I don't have matches around.  I am terrified of fire!

Lunch with Page

Well, bless you and thank you, Page Turner, for bringing happiness to several friends today.
Over lunch, I had the most delightful conversation with Page.  The hours slipped away as we discussed life, treasures found in the woods, bear encounters, art, family, friends, and much more.
Page is a tiny girl, but SO full of life and positivity!!  It is a joy to spend time with her.
Below are two pretty prayer flags made by Page.  The small art piece has a story that goes along with it, but I will just say that Page painted the quilt pattern on this piece of board that is from an old family farm in Galax.  I love it and am going to mount it in a frame.

Treasures

A few treasures I purchased this weekend at the estate sale of a local artist.  Love!  Right up my alley.

Potatoes

Mr. Magic planted potatoes in his garden for the first time this year.  He dug some up this afternoon and was half disappointed/half amused at their size!!

MORNING JOY

I wake.
A slight breeze blows through the screen.
The fan whirs lightly above as birds are heard chirping outside.
I reach for the furry lump that is snuggled tightly against me.
I lift the cover.
The sweetest face emerges, looks at me with glowing love, and plants a kiss on my face.
I wouldn't trade this precious morning ritual for gold.

Celebration

We were out to dinner tonight celebrating our Anniversary!  22 Years!!

Deer Watching

Jake likes to watch the deer.
And look what else the rain brought.

Pretty Blooms

In spite of the deer eating big chunks of the morning glory vine and the hostas ~ and after quite a bit of rain ~ both are giving beautiful blooms today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dan !!
Chances are you won't be able to sit in a boat on a beautiful serene lake today.  However, I send wishes that your day will have some quiet time in it for you.  And then ~ CELEBRATE! CELEBRATE! ~ You only get one birthday each year. It's your day to be spoiled.

August

Remember to be gentle with yourself and others.  We are all children of chance and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun.
