Tag Sale Finds

I purchased some great things over the past couple of weekends at tag sales. I've been busy cleaning them and getting them ready to put in my consignment space. Here are pictures of some of the items I found.
Sweet doll
I really like this Revolutionary War soldier/drummer. I'm thinking a collector might be happy with this.

These are cute. After you wind up the little monkey, he walks and clangs the cymbals together.
This little hen lays little plastic eggs when you push down on her. If only having babies was that easy.

This Christmas candle is large - about 3 feet high and lights up. I'm going to use the vintage plastic candelabra in my space as part of my Christmas decor.

This vintage Santa Head lights up and he is in great shape. He just needs someone to love him.

These perfect figurines look like they came right off the shelf of a store.

Kitty and Collie figurines.

Vintage pair of chick salt and pepper shakers. Very cute.
Kissing Angels figurine. Sweet.

Lefton road runner wall pocket. Very nice.

Vintage roosters. These are great.

These vintage roosters are very colorful ~ I like them a lot. I must hurry and put them in my space before they get too attached to my kitchen area.

A pair of vintage Lefton owls. I LOVE the coloring.

These are very old owl wall pockets. Very, very nice.

A sweet small drum table. I'm thinking maybe white paint, distressed.....

Full Harvest Moon

I took these photos a couple of hours ago. What a gorgeous October night it is ~ a beautiful full moon, clear skies and a comfortable cool temperature. I could get lost in this moon ~ it is so bright and magical. This moon is the Full Harvest Moon and it is the largest of the year because it is the closest.

Black Phoebe

I get very excited when I see a new bird in the yard. This guy appeared about a week ago. I had never seen him around before and I had no idea what kind of bird he was. So, I did my usual detective work and he looks like he could be a BLACK PHOEBE. Black Phoebes are black-and-white flycatchers of the Southwest and are almost always near water. I have several water features in my flower gardens, so I guess this is possible. However, if he is a Southwestern bird, he is a long way from home. I saw him in the back yard again the other day, so maybe he will be a regular visitor. I think he's very cute.

If he isn't a Black Phoebe and someone out there knows what he is, please let me know. Thanks.

Color at the Farmers Market

Sweet little pumpkins.
There is nothing like a quick trip to the Farmers Market to get your taste buds roaring. On a cool, crisp day it is worth the trip just to see the colorful displays of fruits and vegetables. It's difficult to pass by all these goodies without one small purchase.
There are always a few tables with jams, pastries, and arts and crafts, too.

In December, the tables are filled with every kind of greenery imaginable. Some of it is loose to use for your individual wants, but there are wreathes, swags, roping, and trees, made of pine, boxwood, magnolia leaves, and more. It looks beautiful and smells divine.

Be sure to click and enlarge this one. You can get a better look at the colorful corn.

I love Fall.

how blessed am i
to gaze upon your
velvet petals
quaking in the breeze
whispering thoughts

making me smile

A Few October Gifts

These October gifts come and go quickly. Take full advantage of the beauty of this season. Take a walk and bask in God's goodness. The glorious color will soon disappear and we will then see the whites and silvers of Winter.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Nancy !!

Lilura

Not too long ago, Pam at yoborobo had a Giveaway. She drew this adorable little witch, Lilura, and I was the very lucky winner.

Lilura arrived today and she is SO cute. I will frame her and hang her on my gallery wall.

If you haven't visited Pam's blog, please do. She is one of my sweet blog friends and she has a way with words that WILL make you smile! Pam is multi talented ~ she draws, makes stuffed skellies, critters and monsters, and she writes children's books. She was recently published in Stuffed Magazine. Visit her etsy shop (yoborobo), too. You won't be sorry!

Thanks, Pam. I love Lilura!

Autumn's Gold

Autumn's Gold

Wild geese chase dramatic skies * Of orange and blue clouds drifting by, * As softened sun casts gentle glow * On amber-colored earth below. * They herald change of mood and land * From carpet green to brown and tan. * The dusky smell of mulching ground * Grants fragrance where no flowers are found. * Amid the sound of skittering leaves * Tripping and turning on chilly breeze, * The trees show introspective ways * And lose their leaves for harsher days. * Their cycle done, their task complete, * They may now rest in silent sleep. * Withdrawing inward, life is saved, * While on the outside bright displays * Of crowded colors of fiery blaze * Melt in moonlight's harvest haze. * Crispy cold are nights and days * That take the breath away. * Other seasons fail to show * God's glory in such earthly tones, * And heaven's lanes are lined, we're told, * With rarest gems and autumn's gold.

October 11, 1973

My heart was filled with love and joy the moment you were born. And now the handsome caring man you have become still has all the love that a mother's heart is capable of holding. I have never forgotten what a special gift God gave me when I was blessed with you, my son.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Casey !!

Halloween Tree

Making this Halloween Tree was therapeutic for me ~ relaxing and fun. I chose a nice branch from the woods, used a garage sale pot, and mixed up a batch of plaster of paris to anchor it. It took me several nights to complete because I tied each thing to the tree rather than using a hot glue gun (even the small orange beads.) I am always afraid things will get knocked loose and fall off. I believe the little goulish items on this tree are there for life. I used clear fishing line, so there is no thread showing.
It is now the centerpiece in my consignment space and I am eager to see if someone can't live without it.

Pictures, Memories, and Filling Every Minute of Life With the Best I Can

Before anything else, I want to thank you sincerely. I was touched to receive comments, messages, and cards of sympathy after the loss of my brother. You are good friends who not only share the fun and laughter, but you are there in times of need.
Patrick was one of my best friends and there is now a big hole in my heart. It will take time for me to get used to not talking with him several nights every week. He could make me laugh so hard, he was my computer tech, my sounding board, my brother, and my friend. Time will help but it will never erase the memories or the love.
I have cried myself dry and I have thought about every aspect of our lives together throughout the years. He was taken away much too early, but I know that he is now with God and he is at peace. I have to believe that he will watch over me, my sister, and my mother and I believe he is with those friends and loved ones who went before him. Knowing that he no longer has to deal with the imperfections of life is the one thing that keeps me sane in all of this.
I have done a lot of thinking. Patrick's passing has affected me differently than any other death I've encountered in this life. It has been the most painful and it has made me realize our time on this earth is short. It has made me realize that I need to make every minute of my life count. I need to find joy in everything I do. I've tried to be good to others all my life, but now I really need and want to make that a priority.
I know there will be more tears, but I will smile, too, when I remember the love and the good times we shared.
One thing I am sure of. If Patrick could, he would be scolding me for not posting to my Blog in over a week. Anytime I didn't post something in 2-3 days, he would send me an email telling me that Blogger was going to cancel my Blog for lack of participation. So, I am going to get back to blogging and back to some kind of normalcy. I now realize that I can talk to Patrick anytime I want and he will be listening.
I love you, Bro. This post is dedicated to you.
