A Very Special Surprise Gift

Jan Brattain!!! I am blown away! You made me cry! What a dear sweet thing for you to do.
Unbeknownst to me, Jan made this mixed media painting of Jake as a birthday gift for me. I was totally surprised when I received this in the mail just now. I dearly LOVE it!
Jan, I love all the little flowers and symbols in the background, as well as your depiction of Jake. I can't thank you enough, my friend. This gift is precious and I will never forget your kindness.
Your heart is golden!

Living the Creative Life

Audrey, Wally, Therry

Our Living the Creative Life group met last week at Mac & Bob's in Salem.
Therry is working on a piece using the Three Graces to depict 3 stages in her life. I am eager to see the finished piece.
Wally is working on a book that once complete, you will flip the sections to make different figures that all fit together. It is pictured blank here, but once he finishes it, I will post photos. He is also working on another Tarot card - the Emperor.
I showed my latest peice, "camouflage", a butterfly painting done a while back, and mixed media pages that will become a book in the future.
Tricia and Margaret shared their art visions for this year and declined being photographed. We all enjoyed good food and each other's art and company.
We will meet again on Feb. 6 at the Grandin Village Co-Op at 6:00. We are each making 4 Valentines for those members who were at this meeting.

Doxie Love

Winter Storm Gia

 Iced Berries.

Winter Storm Gia didn't give us much snow, but it did give us a thin layer of ice that closed many businesses yesterday.
 Iced Ornamental Grass.

Ice covered lane that leads to our cul-de-sac.
 Buried little bunny.
Snow covered baby deer.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help

When I left church on Saturday evening, the snow from Winter Storm Gia was falling lightly on Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Artist Trading Cards

 Carol Weiler
Patricia Kaegi Weiss

Over the past week I've received 2 more Artist Trading Cards from members of the group.
Carol Weiler's "Leaves on the Forest Floor" collage is very cool.  Patricia Kaegi Weiss painted an interesting "Hamsa Hand" with eye and rays.
The little added papers and the colorful paper cuttings are liked and appreciated, too.  Thank you both SO much.

Mr. Squirrel

This afternoon we were sitting at the kitchen table and I looked out the window and saw this squirrel on the ledge of our back porch eating nuts.  I hoped he wouldn't fall ~ it's a long way down!

It got a little bit cold last night!!

Winter Carrots

Tuesday was a beautiful 60+* day, so Mr. Magic decided to do more cleaning in the garden.  Lo and behold, he dug up some carrots he planted last Spring.  Small, colorful, and really tasty!!

Pizza

Sister and b-i-l arrived on Sunday evening from Ohio for their Winter visit.  We took advantage of the gorgeous sunny 60* weather today and visited a few places in Grandin Village.  Had delicious pizza and soup at On the Rise Bakery and then a visit to Railside Antiques and Mercantile Co.

Surprise

This morning I opened the blind in my studio and there in the bird feeder is a squirrel all scrunched feasting on the bird food. I guess I need to remove the shepherd's hook.

LIVE From NY

Seth Apter
I'm not usually home on Saturdays, but being sick with a cold kept me home today.  So, I was fortunate to watch Seth Apter LIVE from NY.  I have followed Seth for years, loving his work and his products.  This video today was just what I needed to really rev up my creative juices.  Very eager to dive into some serious painting.  Thank you, Seth!  You are always an inspiration.

2019

I wish my family and friends a New Year of BLESSINGS, JOY, and GOOD HEALTH!  May each day be filled with light.  Live each day of this New Year with positive thoughts and let us spread PEACE everywhere we go.

Birthdays

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Tom, my dear Canton friend of many many years!
Some people are meant to remain in our lives ~ From Canton Players Guild, to Kent State, to Facebook, to many mutual friends, to memories, and get-togethers. I am thankful we are still in touch.
Cheers to you, Mr. Stow!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear cousin Will !!
Being the same age, you staying in Ohio when your family moved to California, your close relationship with Patrick, and your love for our family, has kept us close. I don't get to see you often, but knowing you are out there with your big sentimental heart, your warm smile, and your humorous nature, is a big plus in my life.
I hope this next year brings you only good things!

Solar Cardinal

Mr. Cardinal is solar - he loved the sunshine today - sits in the window and flaps his wings.

Beautiful Saturday

A beautiful 60* sunny late December Saturday allowed me to do some sorting in the garage.
